Amrit Yoga was developed by Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev). Amrit Yoga is the evolution of Kripalu Yoga, Meditation in Motion. Amrit Yoga cultivates inward focus and meditative awareness along with the practice of postures and pranayamas. This internal focus is the single most powerful tool to prevent chronic, stress-producing, mental dialogues and emotional reactions. These unconscious habits accompany us through every activity; the yoga mat is not an exception. There are two parts to every Amrit yoga asana: the posture itself and then the posture of consciousness in which we take a brief moment to reconnect with the breath and observe how the posture has released energy in the different areas of the body. Each class ends with a 15 - 20 minute guided relaxation/meditation.
